The Leasing Market in February 2021
It looks like everyone is still wanting to move to Burnie or the surrounding area. Throughout February 2021 we have continued to receive good interest in our available properties with loads of enquiry from prospective tenants and multiple applications received on most properties.
The quality of applications received, however, is not always to our standard and as people become increasingly desperate to locate a new home, their previous behaviour as a tenant is coming back to haunt them.
We always advise our tenants that repeated breaches or tardiness with their rent payments may impact their ability to rent in the future (they don’t always seem to believe us). And, when the competition is fierce like it is now, those few late payments last Christmas or less than perfect inspections will often mean their application is moved to the bottom of the pile.
Our most popular property this month was a eg three bedroom home located in …. Acton, attracting a whopping 100 enquiries and 31 applications!
The highest price we achieved for a property during February was $350 per week. The owner of this 3-bedroom home in Upper Burnie just completed an internal renovation - paint, soft furnishings and installed a reverse cycle air conditioner. Rent prior to the renovation was $265 per week.
